My Favorite FedEx Folk Lore


Legend has it that while a student at Business School, FedEx founder Fred Smith, received a mediocre C on a paper he wrote describing the future FedEx business model. Smith explains in a 2004 interview that the truth is slightly more complicated.

Regardless, I will always have a soft-spot in my heart for this FedEx commercial. The advertisement challenges assumptions about race, gender, class and education while championing the everyday office heroes who manage business logistics. It’s funny, too.
